Founder & Managing Partner
Combining an ability to understand client needs and assess adversaries’ true objectives, James leads JSL’s attorneys in legal matters and daily operations. Deeply valuing our clients, their interest and our diversity initiatives, James utilizes his decades of experience to drive JSL into the future.
James specializes in commercial litigation and complex business disputes, employment law and investigations, and insurance defense.

MARC BERG
Senior Counsel
With JSL for over 20 years, Marc is a seasoned attorney providing continual and exceptional representation across varying legal matters. Marc is a no-fault arbitrator in Minnesota, focusing his practice on commercial litigation, employment law, insurance defense and products liability. He has defended numerous cases at the state and federal district court levels including in administrative proceedings.

JUSTIN BRUNTJEN
Attorney
Justin holds a BA from the University of Iowa (2007) and a JD cum laude from the University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis (2011). He has twelve years’ litigation and transactional experience in employment law, real estate, and probate.
ALLEN GIBAS
Of Counsel
Allen holds a BA magna cum laude from Macalester College (1967) and a JD cum laude from the University of Minnesota (1974). Allen is an approved arbitrator by the American Arbitration Association and an expert in ADR. He has 40 plus years’ experience navigating complex legal issues in labor and employment law matters at the district court and appellate levels.
TONY CHIN
Attorney
Tony holds a BA from Macalester College 2017 and a JD magna cum laude from Mitchell Hamline Law School (2023). Mr. Chin has worked at JSL for six years and has worked on several complex workplace investigations, including assisting with the drafting of investigative reports. His practice is focused on employment law and investigations, and trust and estates.
